Coasting Into Spring

Usually, I'm bitching and moaning and have had it up to here with winter by this time of year. I know that some parts of the US and Canada got slammed, and Europe has had an especially rough go of it, but for most of the Northeast US, it's the winter that wasn't. We had almost no snow all season in my neck of the woods, and the temperatures have been unusually moderate. And just like that, spring is almost here.

Two sure signs that nothing but blue skies are on the way: Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday (don't forget to move your clocks one hour ahead) and, more significantly, seasonal theme parks have begun opening their gates. Granted, it's only a few, but even after a mild winter, it sure is sweet to know that some parks have once again reassembled their rides and revved up their coasters. Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Six Flags Over Texas are among the parks that are now open on select days. Six Flags Over Georgia, Wild Adventures, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will get their turnstiles clicking on March 17. To get yourself revved up about the new season, see what's on tap this year in my Ride Guide 2012.
