Here's a weird one. A Detroit-based group is proposing to transform one of the city's blighted neighborhoods into a zombie "theme park." If you are thinking undead-themed roller coasters, dark rides, and haunted mazes, that's not what is being proposed. It's really more of an immersive zombie experience than a traditional amusement park. As presented, participants would spend the night in a zombie-infested streetscape. If they succumb to the flesh-eating zombies before the morning light, they are transformed into zombies and join the marauding horde in pursuit of fresh victims. According to the Z Word Detroit site, the concept would creatively repurpose a section of the distressed downtown area. I have to hand it to them; it is creative -- and quite strange.
